Listed in Appendix I of the CMS and Appendix II of the Bern Convention. It is mainly a migrant through the project area, reaching about 51,000 individuals per season, which is the biggest concentration of migrating White Pelicans in Europe. Small groups stage in the project area during both summer and winter. Included in the Bulgarian RDB as Extinct (breeder).
