At the end of 2022, Elektrorazpredelenie Yug started the first stage of technical works under the project "Safe Grid for Burgas Lakes" (LIFE20 NAT/BG/001234 - LIFE Safe Grid for Burgas).
They started by installing protective insulation on poles of two overhead lines 20 kV - "Vodoprovoda" and "Bryastovets", supplying electricity to the boroughs Banevo and Vetren (Burgas).
A total of 4 overhead lines will be secured within the first stage. The initial phase is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023. In total, the planned isolation works will cover 12 overhead lines.
The materials that are used are of a new type and are being used for the first time in Elektrorazpredelenie Yug. Statistics after their test installation show a significant reduction in breakdowns and mortality among birds. An insulator made of a special resistant material will be installed. The installation is carried out in such a way that all current-carrying elements of the pole are secured so that there is no direct external contact with them.
