The project is implemented in the area of Burgas lakes and covers 4 NATURA 2000 areas and one of the biggest bird migration routes in Europe - Via Pontica. The activities are planned to be implemented in the period 2024 - 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the activities in the project involves installation of 2,000 bird reflectors (diverters). Their function is to make overhead wires visible to birds and thus avoid collision with overhead power lines. Installation with a drone represents an innovative technical method for Bulgaria. It enables the installation of diverters on overhead lines passing over lakes, swamps, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim is to protect birds by reducing their mortality caused by electrocution or collision with overhead wires. In addition, the new grid constructed under the project will significantly improve the power supply in Burgas area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project \u201cLIFE Safe Grid for Burgas\u201d was launched in 2021 and so far, activities have been carried out on the installation of insulation on poles - nearly 1350 poles in Burgas area already have protective insulation for birds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the removal of a total of 4 overhead power lines started in the autumn of 2023.
